When it comes to organizing our space, and our things we tend to put it off for tomorrow, or spring or waiting for a perfect time. By doing this we trap our mind, our house with things we limit ourselves. Give yourself time and flexibility to start today. All or nothing mentality doesn’t work in any area of our life. Be flexible to make small steps, and celebrate those small steps on daily basis. It’s important to capture those before, and after change and see the progress. Pictures are powerful take them reflect back! By simplifying things that you are surrounded with, you are clearing a path to focus on what is important, and what actually matters. Once you have a clear space you have no choice but to observe yourself and learn that happiness is within you not the outside force. Your things don’t own you and you don’t need to be defined by them let them go.

March

Bringing awareness to our inner peace and clearing out space goes hand in hand. This month I find my inspiration from a wonderful book Four Sacred Secrets written by Preethaji and Krishnaji it a meditation guide to living in a beautiful state. It so well written so simple and utterly effective. Attempting to write my in own words would lose the meaning of what authors of the book want readers to interpret. Here is a passage from the book.

“We all have ideals that shape our life!

What happens when we let our ideals become our identity?

How can we make a right choice without our presence to the situation?

How can one ideal be the guiding light in all situations? “Being driven by an ideal, by any ideal even “Good” one takes away from being present to what each unique situation requires. The great /Chinese philosopher and royal advisor told a story about Confucian. The Confucian system of government is based on clearly defined laws, ethics and principles. Everything even the language one must use while communicating with friend parent or teacher is defined. Confucius believe that would lead to order and virtue. As a result, everybody knew which actions would be rewarded, and which one would be punished. Here is a story:

Once, a horse was stolen and it was reported to Confucius. He set an inquiry in motion to find a thief, set a punishment of imprisonment, and established the reward for the person who discovered the thief. After a few days a man walked up to Confucius, and announced that he knew who the thief was. How? Confucius asked. Because he is my father, the young man answered. Find the man and put him behind the Ba..Confuius began. But before he completed his sentence he asked. Wait a moment?! Why did your father steal your neighbors  horse? My family was starving, said the young man. I was starving! My mother was starving! We had no food to eat. In order to feed us my father stole the horse. But he is your father, said the royal adviser. Why report him? Because I have to be honest, said the man. I have to speak the truth!Confucius then reversed his earlier judgment. Acquit the father, he said. imprison the son for three days.”

This story stirs up a lot of reaction and questions in peoples mind! If you are confused? Its a good place to be. The story is meant to help you look more closely at your own life.

What the son did was morally or ethically right action. He told the truth, and obey the law. But honesty has become mere an ideal that was more important to him than connecting with the man who was trying to feed him. Nothing else mattered besides being seen, and recognized as an honest person. Obsessing over his ideal had made him inconsiderate and unsympathetic. Perhaps, Confucius felt it was more dangerous to have someone so heartless roaming the streets especially someone so young then an old man who stole to feed his family.”

This month I find my inspiration from a book  Everything is Figureoutable  by Marie Forleo. I love reading non fiction books not because I learn things that I don’t know it’s more about being a reminder to apply those things  Here is a quote:

“Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react”

It’s a part of longer passage that reads: Attitude is more important than facts. It’s more important than the past, education, money, circumstances, failure, and success, what other people think and say or do. It’s more important than appearance, ability or skills. It will make or break business, home, friendship, and organization. The remarkable thing is I have a choice everyday of my attitude will be. I can not change change my past. I can not change actions or others. I can not change inevitable. The only thing I can change is attitude. Life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react.

MAY

This month my inspiration comes from a book The Awakened Family by Shefali Tsabary Ph.D. It focuses on peeling off layers and layers of ego and replacing it with mindfulness and the wisdom that comes with it.

The Gift

May you be blessed with a child …

Who defies you – So you learn to release control

With one who doesn’t listen – So you learn to tune in

With one who loves to procrastinate – So you learn the beauty of stillness

With one who forgets things – So you learn to let go of attachments

With one who is extra-sensitive – So you learn to be grounded

With one who is inattentive – So you learn to be focused

With one who dares to rebel – So you learn to think outside the box

With one who feels afraid – So you learn to trust the universe

You may be blessed with a child… Who teaches you that it is never about them – And all about you.
